Freeze & Unfreez Column & Row in Excel


To freeze and unfreeze columns and rows in Excel, follow these steps:

Freezing Columns and Rows:

  1. Open your Excel workbook and go to the "View" tab on the ribbon.
  2. Click on the "Freeze Panes" drop-down button in the "Window" group.
  3. From the list, select "Freeze Panes".
  4. To freeze a column, select the column to the right of the column you want to freeze. To freeze a row, select the row below the row you want to freeze. To freeze both rows and columns, select the cell below and to the right of the row and column you want to freeze.
  5. Click on the "Freeze Panes" option.

    Unfreezing Columns and Rows:

    1. Open your Excel workbook and go to the "View" tab on the ribbon.
    2. Click on the "Freeze Panes" drop-down button in the "Window" group.
    3. From the list, select "Unfreeze Panes".

    Alternatively, you can also drag the vertical or horizontal line in between the frozen and unfrozen area to adjust which rows or columns are frozen. To do this, hover your mouse over the line until it turns into a double arrow, then click and drag the line to the desired location.
